After graduating from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Rhys enlisted in the U.S. Army where he worked as a newspaper editor in Germany. Print was never his true calling, he wanted to be behind a microphone, and began his radio career in Burney, CA in 1975. Rhys started his Grays Harbor radio journey in 1978 at KBKW. In the 80’s he teamed with Doug McDowell on the KXRO Breakfast Show where he became a trusted source for local news. Rhys later landed as the morning man at Sunny 102.1 where he earned 12 awards for Best DJ on the harbor. Rhys is excited after all these years to be running his own radio station!

Harbor Boy Come Home! The first child of Hoquiam Policeman ‘Big Dave’ and Linda Pavletich, little Dave was raised in Hoquiam and started his radio career by building a pirate AM station in his bedroom that broadcast to North Hoquiam when he was in the 8th grade. Al Dale, the afternoon disc jockey at KGHO, heard about Dave’s station, and offered him a weekend job at Top-40 icon KGHO in October, 1983 when Dave was 14. When KGHO changed format, Dave was hired by Rhys Davis to work weekends at KXRO/KDUX when he was 16. Upon graduation, Dave became the midday disc jockey on KXRO until he left to take a radio job in Centralia in 1988. Dave is excited to be back on the air in Grays Harbor for the first time in decades! |
